ENTRY LEVEL SOLAR PV DESIGN & INSTALLATION

5 Day Solar Training Course

In this solar training course, students learn how photovoltaic (PV) systems operate as well as basic system design and safety practices. The course covers basic electrical terminology, PV system components, solar fundamentals, sun path, basic system design, string sizing, site evaluation, shade analysis, system sizing, overcurrent protection basics, grounding basics, electrical and mechanical design considerations and OSHA safety standards.

The training includes a hands-on project where students will install a complete PV system in the classroom. This course will prepare the students for the NABCEP Entry Level Exam which will be administered on the last day of class.

This is an ISPQ accredited course. For students seeking the NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification, this is an entry level course that would count toward the 18 hours of non-advanced PV training. Ambassador Energy Safety Net: If you do not pass the Entry Level Exam on your first try, you can come through the class a second time within one year and re-test for just $200 if you bring your original textbook.

This class is offered as a 1 week course (five consecutive days Monday – Friday) or on Thursdays for 5 consecutive weeks to help accommodate the schedules of busy professionals.

 

ADVANCED SOLAR PV DESIGN & INSTALLATION

5 Day Solar Training Course Offered by InterCoast Colleges in partnership with Ambassador Energy

The training includes a hands-on project where students will install a complete PV system in the classroom. This course is offered through InterCoast Colleges which is accredited by ACCET, an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education. This class is for students who have previous solar training or equivalent work experience in the field. If you are unsure if you meet the requirements, please call us. This training program will help prepare students for employment as a PV installer or PV system designer.

ADVANCED PV TECHNICAL SALES

2 Day Solar Training Course

Students learn the intricacies of selling solar and what affects the system costs and customer savings. The course covers basic solar fundamentals, site evaluation, shade analysis, consumer electric rates, benefits of PV, return on investment, system sizing and electrical and mechanical design considerations. This course is designed to assist students who are planning to take the NABCEP PV Technical Sales Exam. It is recommended that less experienced students take the 5 day Solar PV Design and Installation course prior to taking this more advanced class.

ADVANCED PV INSTALLATION

3 Day Solar Training Course

Students learn the details of solar PV system design and installation per NEC Code. The course covers NEC Code for solar, site evaluation, string sizing, overcurrent protection sizing and placement, conduit, wiring, batteries, grounding, wind loads, troubleshooting, system maintenance and OSHA safety standards. This course counts for all 18 hours of continuing education credit for NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professionals (including 6 hours of NEC Code training). This class would also help prepare candidates for the NABCEP PV Installation Professional Exam. The training includes a hands-on project where students will install a complete PV system in the classroom. It is recommended that all students take the 5 day Solar PV Design and Installation or an equivalent course prior to taking this more advanced class.

2 Day Solar Training Course

Students learn the details of solar PV system design and NEC Code. The course covers NEC Code for solar, site evaluation, string sizing, overcurrent protection, conduit, wiring, batteries, grounding and OSHA safety standards. This course is designed to assist students who are planning to take the NABCEP PV Installation Professional Exam. It is recommended that all students take the 5 day Solar PV Design and Installation or an equivalent course prior to taking this more advanced class.

SOLAR PV FOR ELECTRICIANS

1 Day Solar Training Course

This training course is designed for electricians and journeymen to who want to learn the details of solar PV system electrical design and installation. The course covers the basics of how solar works and what affects the output of solar panels as well as advanced PV design calculations for inverter string sizing, overcurrent protection and voltage drop. The class provides detailed information on NEC Code for solar as it applies to wire and conduit sizing, system grounding and PV specific rules. Students will also be given an introduction to the basics of site evaluation and shade analysis tools. The training includes a hands-on project where students will install a complete PV system in the classroom.

SOLAR PV FOR CONTRACTORS

1 Day Solar Training Course

This training course is designed for general contractors and roofers who want to learn about selling and installing solar PV systems. The course covers the basics of how solar works and the components needed to build a system as well as various solar mounting options. Students will be given an introduction to basic solar quoting, site evaluation and shade analysis tools. The class also provides an overview of government incentives for solar and financing options available to consumers. The training includes a hands-on project where students will install a complete solar PV system in the classroom.

AMBASSADOR ENERGY AGENCY PROGRAM

3 Day Solar Training Course

This course is an integral part of the Ambassador Energy Agency program. It is designed for contractors and entrepreneurs who want to get into the solar business as well as solar companies that would like marketing, design and installation support. The course covers fundamentals of PV system design, site evaluation, shade analysis, quoting solar and marketing your business. The class also provides an overview of government incentives for solar and financing options available to consumers. The training includes a hands-on project where students will install a complete PV system in the classroom. The Agency training program provides the “secret sauce” that can make any solar company successful.*
